Why I’ll Be Removing Naps for a Little While

I’m a big fan of naps.  I’ve made this abundantly clear numerous times.

But lately I’ve found that I’ve been napping longer and feeling a big groggier.

So I did some reading on whether or not I even need to take naps.

And one thing shot out that may (or may not) apply to me.

Is it possible I’m not getting sufficient sleep at night?

One thing I’ve noticed over the past few weeks is that I’ve been going to bed a bit later than usual.

Most times I’m out by 10.  Lately I’ve been calling it quits at 10:30pm.

But here’s the thing.  My alarm is always set for 6:15am.

I’ve recognized that I’ve been pretty groggy when I wake up.  It’s conceivable I need more sleep.  We’re not all the same.  Some need 6 hours, some need 8.

By the time it’s noon (when I normally take my nap), I’m exhausted.

Yes, I nap.  And yes, I sleep well when I nap.  But I’m just not feeling that same burst I normally do when I wake up.

I decided I’m going to try something new.

Always put my head down and try to sleep somewhere between 10-10:30pm but no alarm for a while.

Let’s see what my body actually needs each night.

Perhaps that will be efficient enough to keep me energized throughout the day.

Then you’ve got diet and all that stuff but let’s start here.

What’s my point?

Always be ready to modify.  Always be ready to make an adjustment to optimize your life, no matter how big or small.

If it doesn’t work, try something else until it does.
