There are a lot of people out there who should be familiar with Damon Wayans. After all, he is a member of the Wayan family who has been in the entertainment industries since the 1980s. As a result, Wayans has performed in a wide range of roles over the course of his career, with examples ranging from acting to writing and producing. Even now, people should have seen his face on the TV screen, seeing as how he plays the role of Roger Murtaugh on Lethal Weapon, which is a Fox-based buddy cop comedy-drama based on the movies of the same name.
With that said, it is interesting to note that Wayans isn’t at the age that most people would expect based on a role like that of Roger Murtaugh on Lethal Weapon, though others might have suspected it based on the fact that he started out in the 1980s. In short, Wayans is in his late 50s, which isn’t anything that anyone would expect based on looking at the marketing materials for any of the projects that he has been involved with in recent times.
In fact, it is amusing to note that a look at a collection of photos taken of Wayans at various points in his career will reveal that he hasn’t changed much when it comes to his looks. For example, while his photos from the 1980s can be distinguished from his photos from the 2010s with relative ease, that isn’t something that can be attributed to changes in his facial appearance. Instead, that’s something that can be attributed to how the clothing that he is wearing as well as the fact that he is missing his very recognizable mustache. In contrast, it can take some doing to tell the Wayans of the 2010s apart from the Wayans of the 1990s, which is when he started wearing the same sort of mustache that he has retained in the present. Even then, it is much easier to distinguish one from the other by using the quality of the photo, which says a lot more about technological changes than the near-nonexistent signs of aging on Wayans.
For what it is worth, it is interesting to note that black people do tend to show fewer signs of aging compared to white people. In significant part, this is because darker skin contains more melanin, which in turn, offers more protection from the sun. As a result, black people show fewer signs of aging such as fine lines on their skin compared to white people at the same ages. This doesn’t mean that black people won’t show those signs of aging, just that they won’t show them as much.
With that said, it is important to note that some people are just less prone to aging than others because of blind genetic luck and nothing more. For example, one particularly notable case is that of the so-called “Methuselah gene,” which is a mutation that causes people who have it to age at a slower rate because their cells make less use of a particular growth hormone. Unfortunately, this isn’t something that people can control at the moment, but since there are plenty of other factors that affect aging that people can control, there are plenty of things that interested individuals can do to protect themselves if they want to look even a little bit as ageless as Damon Wayans.
