Politician Dean Hart Mocks His Opponent For Not Naming A Road After Billy Joel

I find it extremely serendipitous that this news should come out today given that I just got my tickets to attend Billy Joel at the Nassau Coliseum when it reopens in April here on Long Island.  If you grew up on Long Island in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and pretty much any era and you’re not a Billy Joel fan I’m convinced there will eventually be a law here that banishes you from living on the Island.  Billy Joel is an establishment here on Long Island.  So much so that a local politician actually calls out his opponent for not naming a road after the piano man.

Dean Hart is pulling for $1 million to get Nassau Country to erect a giant statue of Joel in front of the newly designed Nassau Coliseum.  Hart considers Joel to be Long Island’s most famous person of all time.  Frankly I think he’s right.  The only other guy we got is Teddy Roosevelt.   But what’s awesome is how Hart mocked his political opponent Michael Montessano for failing to get a stretch of road named after Joel saying, “My opponent is either impotent or is simply not trying because everyone loves Billy Joel.”

Hart even went on to say “No wonder Albany is a mess,” saying that if you can’t do a simple thing like get a road named after Billy Joel then how can you run the region?  The man’s got a point.  The man HAS a point.
