An Absolutely Atrocious Phrase: “I’ll Be Happy When”

I came across this phrase recently and it pissed me off to no end:  “I’ll be happy when.”

That is the most falsely hopeful, delayed, lazy, wishful thinking phrase a person can possibly utter.

It reveals a total lack of control, a complete sense of desperation and a dependence on something that isn’t real.

If there’s one phrase that I don’t ever want to hear from anyone it’s this one.

No situation, setting, environment, people in your life, money in your pocket will ever MAKE you happy.

Happiness is found in allowing and finding the best in any situation, no matter how seemingly bad or good.

It’s when you can truly accept nearly anything that you are happy.

Of course there are other factors that contribute to happiness, but all the glitter, gold, prestige and power in the world won’t mean shit if you’re not at peace with what’s right in front of you.

So the next time you find yourself saying “I’ll be happy when,” remember it’s one of the most bullshit phrases you can ever utter.
