The Ten Biggest Cycling Races in the World

Tour de France

This is, by far, the biggest of all the cycling races in the world, and it’s also the one race that the casual sports fan will actually pay attention to, most likely because it is said to be the “oldest and most prestigious” of the three cycling races that make up the Grand Tours. The Tour de France began in 1903, and it typically takes place in July of every year over a 23 day period. The winner of the entire race gets the coveted yellow jersey, something we saw Lance Armstrong win seven times during his run, although those titles have all been stripped from him by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) for doping offenses discovered by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
