Never Leave Your Phone In Your Car In The Middle Of a Blizzard In Alaska

You should probably never leave your phone in your car at all, let alone do it while you’re in the middle of a blizzard.  It’s especially crappy when that blizzard is taking place in Alaska essentially making any continental United States blizzard look like a walk in the park.   But just yesterday, National Geographic caught that exact situation on film and posted it to Instagram with a caption that reads:

A blizzard in the Eastern Aleutian Islands, Alaska yesterday produced winds gusting around 80 mph. It was the wrong day to forget your mobile phone in the driveway:) Storms often ravage these islands, sometimes reaching hurricane force, but extreme weather is common and rarely make the news beyond Dutch Harbor.
I’m photographing life on land and sea in the Aleutians over the next month or so.

Here’s the video:

By the way, if you’ve ever had those thoughts that everyone has of just “getting away from it all” and moving to some remote cabin in the middle of nowhere, watch this video.  Something tells me you’ll be pretty psyched to sleep in your warm bed watching The Bachelor.   It’s rough out there folks.  Be careful.
