There’s Something Incredibly Funny in this 1987 Anti Drug Commercial with Magic Johnson

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for public service announcements that aim to discourage kids from doing drugs. And  I think it’s great when an athlete gets involved and supports initiatives like this. So when you see Magic Johnson involved it’s obviously a good thing.  Plus seeing him in 1987 with the amazing goatee in the prime of his career is even cooler. But watch this video and check out the last 5 seconds.

I mean aside from Magic’s poor acting skills which is excusable because he’s an athlete not an actor, doesn’t it look like rather than just giving a kind of pat on the head to this kid it’s more of a caress?  Watch it more than once.  It’s pretty hilarious. I guess in 1987 this is OK but I have a strong feeling that in today’s world this commercial would make it to the top of social media charts in a matter of minutes.

Enjoy the video.
