Man Sues British Airways for Sending Him to Wrong Destination

British Airways Affected By Second Phase Of Strikes

How about this for a nightmare of a vacation. What if you were flying out for your dream trip and didn’t miss your flight and the airline didn’t lose your bags. No, what if instead, the air carrier took you to the wrong destination? That happened to one man, who is now suing British airways for sending him and his partner to the Grenada instead of Granada.

Edward Gamson, an American dentist, wanted to travel to Granada, Spain with his partner for their most recent vacation in order to explore the history and architecture of the Spanish city, which has been around since the 11th century. However, instead of getting the trip he had been wanting to go on for so long, Gamson ended up in Grenada, which is a Caribbean island of the Venezuelan coast.

“I have a lifelong interest in Islamic art,” Gamson said in a statement to the British website the Independent. “I’m also of Spanish Jewish heritage so it was something I had always wanted to do to visit Granada and the Alhambra. I made it absolutely clear to the booking agent I wanted to go to Granada in Spain. Why on earth would I want to go to Grenada in the Caribbean if I was flying back to America from Lisbon?”

Unfortunately, Gamson and his partner never made it to Spain, and to make matters even worst, British Airways has  refused to reimburse their $4,5o0 first-class tickets. Now, Gamson is suing the airline for $34,000 in damages.

“It’s just so sad,” Gamson said.  “A trip we had been really looking forward to was ruined and … [British Airways] won’t do the decent thing.”

A similar situation to this happened last year, when a 62-year-old woman with cancer had the same issue and ended up in Grenada. She had wanted to see the Alhambra, the most famous and historic Islamic temple in Granada, before passing away. Thankfully, her tickets were reimbursed.

Now, let’s hope British Airways does the right thing and refunds Gamson’s tickets as well. Otherwise, if the American dentist ends up winning the lawsuit, he’ll have enough money for a couple trips to both Granada and Grenada.
