Infamous Home Alone star, Macaulay Culkin, who hasn’t been a part of the acting world in years, has since taken to the stage with his new band, Pizza Underground. However, it seems that Culkin’s band is not as popular as his early film career was, because Pizza Underground was booed off stage and pelted with beer cans during their set at the Dot to Dot Festival in Nottingham. “Why are you throwing those?” Culkin supposedly asked the crowd. “I’d rather drink them!” When the audience continued to throw beer cans at him and his band members and showed no signs of stopping, Culkin told the crowd, “That’s the end of the show, goodnight,” before exiting the stage with the rest of the group.
Culkin’s Pizza Underground is mainly a tribute band that pays homage to Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground, but so far, the act has not gone over so well for Culkin and his bandmates. The group was mercilessly booed off in Nottingham just as they finished their first and only song of the night (“Pizza Day,” their version of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day), and they were also booed on Saturday during their performance in Bristol. Here’s the video of Pizza Underground playing in Bristol.
Ultimately, this is just another sad chapter in what has been pretty rough career for Macaulay Culkin since his days of childhood stardom. He has not found steady work as an actor, has been arrested for drug possession, and now appears to have a failing music career, too. Well, all I can say is that at least the guy got to date Mila Kunis back in the early 2000’s. That’s got to count for something, right?
