Kevin Love, power forward and indisputable star of the Minnesota Timberwolves, went to a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park on Sunday. However, recent rumor of the Celtics being interested in Kevin Love (first reported by Adrian Wonjarowski of Yahoo Sports last month) made Love’s visit have a little more importance than the typical basketball enjoying a baseball, especially because while he was at the ballpark, Love met up with Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. Even though this could have been two NBA friends hanging out and catching up, what makes this encounter even more suspicious is that Love was reportedly also with his agent at Fenway, according to Baxter Holmes of The Boston Globe.
With all the rumors about Love possibly going to the Celtics swirling around, this meeting is sure to make more Celtics fans believe that the acquisition of Love will soon become a reality rather than simply a fantasy. At only 25 years old and incredibly talented, Love’s presence on the court could help Boston next season.
Adding more fuel to the Kevin Love fire, David Ortiz, who coincidentally went from the Minnesota Twins to the Red Sox in 2003, tweeted at Love, telling him that “if you need advice on moving from Minnesota to Boston just let me know.”
It still remains to be seen whether Kevin Love will actually end up in Boston or not, but the fact that he was meeting with Rondo and his agent, plus that tweet from Ortiz, certainly has to make Timberwolves fans worried and Celtics fans incredibly excited for the possibility that Love may be donning a green jersey instead of a navy blue one come fall.
