Cavaliers Reportedly Willing to Trade Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love

NBA All-Star Kevin Love Holds Press Conference In Times Square

When the Cleveland Cavaliers signed Lebron James, bring back the superstar back home, there was much speculation about whether the Cavs would be willing to trade this year’s number one overall draft pick, Andrew Wiggins, to the Minnesota Timberwolves in deal for Kevin Love. At first this seemed like an unlikely if not downright implausible scenario, but now, that seems to have changed, as the Cavaliers are reportedly willing to trade Andrew Wiggins for Love, according to Bob Finnan of The Morning Journal & Thew News-Herland and Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today.

The reason why the Cavs would supposedly be willing to move Andrew Wiggins in order to get Kevin Love is because, as Fillan’s article states, Lebron wants to play with Love. Apparently, Cleveland is willing to do whatever is necessary to make Lerbon happy and to win big and win now.

This potential deal for Love may include Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett and a first round pick, according to Finnan. If this is the actual deal, though, other pieces would likely need to be involved to make the salaries work.

The decision of whether to trade Wiggins is huge for Cleveland. While it follows the win-now mentality that Lebron most likely had with his return back home, it also compromises the possible future of the franchise. Wiggins could take a few years or more before reaches his full potential as player, and while Love, who is only 26 years old, is the easier, better fit for the team now, are the Cavs really willing to let go of a player that could potentially be a dynamic NBA superstar in the not-too-distant future?

We will have to wait and see what happens, but with these reports coming from Finnan and Zillgitt and the intense to win now from both Lebron and the Cleveland fanbase, I’m guess that this deal for Kevin Love will be most certainly be happening, even it does mean that the Cavs have to bid goodbye to Andrew Wiggins.
