Kim Peek – Incredible memory skills

Before his death in 2009, Kim Peek had used his superhuman memory abilities to memorize a total of 12,000 books. In fact, his abilities have become so powerful, so finely tuned at consuming and memorizing information, that Peek was able to read two pages of a book at once, using one eye for each page. Peek was said to have one of, if not the best, photographic memory of all time, as he was able to retain and discuss 98% of all of his life experiences in perfect detail.  Supposedly, Peek was the inspiration for the film Rain Man, starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, even though Peek himself deemed using his powers for certain activities, such as gambling, “unethical.”
