Brian Williams Raps “Baby Got Back” In What May be The Jimmy Fallon Video of the Year

Spike TV's "Don Rickles: One Night Only" - Show

You may already know Brian Williams as the stoic, serious anchor of NBC’s Nightly News, but I’m here to introduce you to a new kind of Brian Williams: Rap Star Brian Williams. Even though in actuality it’s just clips from Nightly News cleverly edited together, there is now a video out there (thanks to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) of Brian Williams rapping Sir Mix-A-Lot’s infamous “Baby Got Back.”

This isn’t the first “Baby Got Back” video in recent weeks that has been making an impact on the web. Only about a week ago, we showed you Sir Mix-A-Lot’s amazingly awesome performance of his most famous hit with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, which also included a bevy of dancing middle-aged women (the one in the black dress still haunts my dreams). So this makes me wonder: what’s up with the “Baby Got Back” resurgence? Is “Baby Got Back” making a (pardon the world play here) comeback, or did it ever leave us at all?

Now the more I think about it, whether or not “Baby Got Back” ever really fell out of style doesn’t really matter. It’s just one of those inherently funny songs. And whether it’s someone doing their best impression of Sir Mix-A-Lot, attempting to rap “Ice Ice Baby,” or mumbling their way through Hanson’s “MMMBop,” these songs (and the countless covers of them) will always be great because they’re just so goofy.

Hopefully, when Brian Williams sees this video of himself, it will actually inspire a real, live rapping performance of “Baby Got Back” from him. And hey, he can always ask his daughter, Girls star Allison Williams, to help him out. She’s already got some rapping experience.
