Uncoached Moment: Kobe’s Dad Silly Dunk over Kareem

Kobe’s got some damned good genes after watching this video.  Not too many dudes can sky that high let alone over Mr. Abdul Jabbar.

The hell I don’t. LISTEN KID. I’ve been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I’m out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.

Uncoached Moment: This is Why Clarence Clemons is Awesome

Well that and the fact he was in Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure.

Think about how much fun the E Street Band must have.  What a great life.  I’d give anything to be a rock star.

Best wishes for Clarence on his health.  I know he’s had it rough recently.  Hopefully we’ll see the man on stage again soon.

Uncoached Moment: Two Amazing Feats in Double Dribble

Published by under Uncoached Moment

Talk about bringing back memories.  Just hearing the sounds of Double Dribble make me want to play an entire library of Nintendo games.  If there was a way to convey the sound of that shot in text I would but it’s nearly impossible.

It’s almost like the sound of that funny instrument in the song “Groove is in the Heart” by Deelite.  You know that weird whistle that goes up and down?

Anyway, I’m off to find some NES emulator so I can play Double Dribble for the next few hours.

Uncoached Moment: The Best Madonna Video of All Time

Published by under Uncoached Moment

I guess this would be considered the most not safe for work video I’ve ever posted.  However, given that there’s a bottle involved I’m 99% sure this is totally allowed.  It’s kind of like if you show a penis that is flaccid you can get an R rating for a movie, but if you show anything more than flaccid it immediately turns to X or even XXX.   Funny how the rating system works.

Whatever, this is no more obscene than Maria Sharapova and her banana.   In any event, this is a video from Madonna’s Truth or Dare documentary where she shows her “skills.”  I think this would have been at the height when most men wanted to hit it.  That or when she wore rubber band earrings.

Uncoached Moment: Professor Turgeson in Back to School

Published by under Uncoached Moment

Sam Kinison was many things in his day, but to me he’ll always be Professor Turgeson in Back To School.  This was an incredible scene from an incredibly underrated movie from the 80s.

When you have Burt Young, William Zabka, and the line “Say hello to my longfellow” all in the same movie, there’s just no chance it could possibly be bad.

Here’s to ageless freshmen.

Uncoached Moment: Cliff Clavin on Jeopardy

Published by under Uncoached Moment

To get into how awesome the show Cheers was would take a long time.   In fact I think I’m gonna have to start doing some “best moments” posts from the show.

First of all, every character had something to like about them.  I mean forget about how amazing Sam Malone was.  That’s just a given.  But Cliffy Clavin?  The knowledgeable postman?   He’s, dare I say, uncoached.  The crap that came out of his mouth was incredible.  And it’s even better in this clip.

I’d like to thank my Boston obsessed buddy Jonny Eds for the call on this video.

Unocoached Moment: Hamster Accused of an Abduction

Published by under Uncoached Moment

By all means am I sentimental for the family of a teenage girl who’s been abducted.  And I’d certainly want whoever did it to have hell to pay for it.  But when the damned girl is taken by a hamster, well then that’s where you gotta draw the line.

I mean out of respect for this girl Molly’s family you’d think the production staff would have gotten this right.

Clean it up Eyewitness News Channel Three.

Uncoached Moment: Tim Tebow’s Pledge

Published by under Uncoached Moment

We’ve all seen this.  But it’s just a reminder that some people have what it takes to be winners.  Some people actually care.  Some people are so hurt by a regular season loss that they cry.  And some people are so competitive that they make pledges that no one will work harder than they do.

I wonder what guys like Anquan Boldin who bitch about not getting enough passes in a game that took his team to the Superbowl would say to a video like this.

Tebow is the man.

Uncoached Moment: Hulk Hogan wins the Belt From Iron Sheik

Published by under Uncoached Moment

I’m not even remotely kidding when I say I got goose bumps watching this video.  I’m not sure if that makes me a total loser or just a guy from a generation who realizes how amazing Pro Wrestling was in the 80′s.

Granted I was 5 years old when this happened but I swear to God I can remember it like it was yesterday.  Talk about an influential moment in the history of time.

Hulkamania shaped wrestling into what it is today:  a complete commercial success that totally sucks compared to the days of Piper’s Pit.

Uncoached Moment: A Shoe Salesman In Triumph

Published by under Uncoached Moment

I know a ton of analysis goes into the show Seinfeld but we’re gonna need some more dedication to the show Married…With Children.  It was truly a spectacle.

One could easily write essays on each character.  Al Bundy is truly a man’s man and this speech purely encompasses all that he is on the show.  By the way, where the hell is Ed O’Neill?  I feel like I haven’t seen him since Dutch and Blue Chips.
