10 Awesome Michael Jordan Commercials

Published by Natty under NBA,Sports

Jordan

To write entire article about how amazing Michael Jordan is would be somewhat futile.  There’s just not enough time to get into the hows and whys of Michael Jordan being a sports legend.  Besides, there are hundreds of books and articles out there that one can read on the subject.  But in addition to appreciating his athletic prowess and domination, one must also appreciate his single handed catapulting the NBA into the marketing hemisphere.

Jordan campaigned for a number of difference products and basically had a “2nd life” as an entertainer in addition to being an athlete. His handsome looks and even comedic timing earned him tons of spots on television.

Among those spots, here are 10 I found to be pretty damned sweet.

NBA vs NFL Cheerleaders Showdown: Phildelphia Eagles Cheerleaders Vs. The 76ers Dancers

Published by Natty under Cheerleaders,NBA,NFL

Eagles Cheerleaders Sixers Cheerleaders

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these and frankly I’m glad we’re back.  This time we head to the city of brotherly love where Rocky stands high at the museum, Gino’s and Pat’s duke it out for cheesesteak supremacy, and the Phillies are the current World Series champs.

It’s been a good year for Philly as the Eagles made some noise in the playoffs and the Sixers are clearly an improved team from last year’s squad (don’t look at records, they’re better).

So why not compare the two squads that cheer for these organizations?  Well here we go.

10 Unbelievable Slam Dunk Videos

Published by Natty under NBA,Sports

Superman

There was a period for about three to five years where the Slam Dunk Contest took a serious turn for the worse.  It was around the time that Cedric Ceballos did that blindfolded crap.  Don’t get me wrong, the Dee Brown pumping up of his Reebok’s was funny but it was in that mid to late 90′s where the dunk contest was kind of becoming a joke.

The creativity was lacking and you just didn’t get the vibe that players were taking it seriously like Jordan and Dominique did (check out the description in Wikipedia).  But then all of a sudden guys like Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and Kobe Bryant (1997) come out of nowhere to bring the dunk contest back.

And now?  Now the new crop of guys have been outstanding.  From guys like Jason Richardson to Dwight Howard,  I’m now looking forward to the dunk contest again.

Here are 10 awesome slam dunk videos (not just from the dunk contest).

Uncoached News: Hey Knicks Fans, Don’t you Just Love Eddy Curry and Sexual Harassment?

Published by Natty under NBA,News

Curry

He dazzled us with those few and far between 20 and 10 games.  He looked like this big dude who just might intimidate the Eastern Conference.   Then Mr. Eddy Curry spiraled.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not as though we didn’t know about his problems.  But then Eddy had his heart condition.  His weight.  His work ethic.  Now D’Antoni comes in with a fast paced mentality.

Did it all crash for Eddy when he was slapped with sexual harassment suit from his MALE driver to boot?  Certainly not (it happened way before) but this is pretty funny.

In a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court, the former driver, Dave Kuchinsky, claimed that Curry, the Knicks’ center, owed him $68,000 in back wages and another $25,000 for charges made on Kuchinsky’s credit card. In the suit, Kuchinsky also described two incidents in which he claimed Curry dropped his pants and made lewd and suggestive remarks.

There we no mentions of gay sex propositions but apparently Eddy just likes showing his “Eddy” to his drivers.

He and Dennis Rodman should definitely hang out.

15 Funny Nicknames in the History of the NBA

Published by Natty under NBA

Grandmama

The NBA has had its fair share of great and appropriate nicknames.  In fact that’s a list unto itself.  However, you’d be surprised at how many funny nicknames there are as well.  I mean when you really think about it some are just outright racist.  Some of them allude to porn.  And some of them are just so random that you have to laugh.

Makes you kind of wonder where the hell someone came up with these things.  Well, I have the answers.

Here are 15 funny nicknames in the history of the NBA

30 of the Best NBA Sports Illustrated Covers

Published by Natty under NBA,Sports

Larry and Magic

If you were to sum up the last 50 years of the NBA using only Sports Illustrated album covers, how would you do it?  That’s the task I decided to give myself.  The league has seen it’s share of ups and downs, amazing feats, and personal accomplishments.  So considering there were nearly 300 covers to choose from, it was tough to narrow it to twenty five.

However, I think I’ve done a superb job with my selections.  From your Bob Cousy’s in the world, up on through to the future legends of this league, here are 30 of the best NBA Sports Illustrated covers.

The NBA Vs. The NFL Cheerleader Debate: Patriots Cheerleaders vs. The Boston Celtics Dancers

Published by Natty under Cheerleaders,NBA,NHL

Patriots Cheerleaders Celtics Dancers

And it’s week two of my quest to go around the country pitting cheerleading squads representing two different leagues but the same state against each other.  This week brings us up north to Bahston.  No that was not a spelling mistake.

Will it be the ever historical arena that graced the feet of Larry Bird and Robert Parrish? Or will it be the Bellichecked calculating, cunning, and “some of the best bodies” in football girls?

Let see who wins……

The NBA Versus The NFL Cheerleader Debate: New York Jets Flight Crew Against The New York Knicks City Dancers

Published by Natty under Cheerleaders,NBA,NFL

Knicks versus Jets  Knicks versus Jets

It’s time this debate got brought out into the spotlight.  For the past few weeks I’ve been under a lot of stress.  And most of that stress is me racking my brain to decide which league has the hotter cheerleaders:  The NBA or The NFL.  And for a while I thought it was a no brainer.  I mean with the likes of the Cowboys and Redskins cheerleaders you’d think it was a landslide.

However, upon closer examination, the comparison is much closer than I had anticipated.  And that is why I’m starting this running series that will take us from state to state comparing the cheerleading squads of professional basketball and football teams.

Our first stop?  Why not my hometown: The Big Apple.  Let’s take a look at the ladies from the Jets and the ladies from the Knicks.

This is What the NBA Needs: A Little of the Legend

Published by Natty under NBA,Sports

Since when did the NBA go so damned soft?  Ever since the Ron Artest incident refs have been keeping this game from getting as competitive as it once was.

Let these guys play, and let them get physical.  Oh and by the way, I could write a 16 page article on Larry Bird.  It’s really a joke how good this guy was.  Zero athletic ability and no physique.  This guy was all heart, all brains, and all out clutch.

His skills were absolutely ridiculous.  As they say, there will be another Michael, there will be another Magic, but there will never be another Larry Bird.  I believe that.
