I’m not 100% sure why someone did this but they decided to. Actually it’s not as weird as one would think. I actually had a harpist at my wedding who played “Where the Streets Have No Name” as me and my wife concluded the ceremony. It was pretty badass.
Although I have to say Metallica on the harp sounds really weird.

About a month ago there was a bit of a scare that Steven Tyler was leaving Aerosmith. However, that was not the case. He was simply thinking about a solo career. Jesus Christ I can’t imagine Tyler doing a solo anything. It would just be way too scary to watch. You need the other members of Aerosmith to neutralize it.
Can you believe this guy is 61? Actually I can. He looks more like 101. I wonder if he can still do backflips. In any event, Steven Tyler is 100% one of the freakier looking rockers out there. Something tells me that in person it would be very hard to talk to the man.

I went to the U2 Concert at the Meadowlands back in October and I have to say of the three that I’ve been to it was the one I liked least. Personally I just think their music is kind of weird these days. And honestly I was a little disappointed.
However that doesn’t mean that when they played their 80s stuff I wasn’t going nuts. But of the 25-30 songs that they did play, I felt like only about 1/3 was their good stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I think Bono is going to be doing these concerts well into his 70s and I think they are one of the all time greatest bands to ever live.
And that’s exactly why I dug up a whole bunch of pictures of these guys. Bear in mind these pictures aren’t all in order but I did separate them by era.

About a month ago my dad and I randomly walked into this Jazz Club just to hang out and listen to music. As it turns out, the headliner was Stanley Jordan. Guy happens to be one of the best guitar players in the world. He was playing guitar and piano at the same time and it was ridiculous.
It’s amazing how talent just comes at times you least expect it. And speaking of guitar, there are so many people out there who can do some amazing things with that instrument. Kind of makes me want to learn it.

I know that Dave Matthews still exists and I know he still makes music but come on. Any of you that went to college in the 90′s or even early 2000′s can probably figure out what I’m getting at here. It’s just not the same anymore. And I think we can all agree that nothing will ever compare to Under the Table and Dreaming.
By no means am I saying this is a bad thing. I’m just saying that we just don’t hear of these guys like we used to. But in recent times, rappers and DJ’s are giving them new life by incorporating them into mixes.
I have to admit, I was a bit weirded out at first but some of these aren’t too bad. I’ve chosen five that are worth listening to.

Here is yet another band that just shows you how bad today’s music is. INXS was hugely popular yes, but probably never considered one of the elite bands back in their day. Point is, they would absolutely pounce any band that’s out there now. And as my buddy Nick says, Michael Hutchence’s voice could only be described as “sensual.”
And sensual in a way that even all heterosexual males can appreciate it. INXS does live on but will certainly never be the same without Hutchence whose charisma and energy should hopefully never be forgotten.

I tell ya if there’s one thing I’d love to be in this world (other than writer for this website) it would be a rock star. Movie stars, I guess, sure. They have a sweet life but nothing’s like connecting with a crowd in a live setting. And of all the bands that really connect in concert, I think U2 is at the top if not the very top.
If any of you have been to a U2 concert I think you’ll know what I’m talking about here. You see these guys on stage and just wonder how the hell 4 guys can generate that much energy with 60-100 thousand people at one time. It’s really quite extraordinary.

By no means is an album cover indicative of the music that lays inside it, but I for one can certainly appreciate a creative album cover. It says a little about the artist that you’re about to listen to. Or at least it should. Sometimes they are really artsy. Sometimes they are flat out “sex sells” types of covers.
Bottom line, I think if you’re gonna lay down some great music for an album, a fair amount of thought and effort should go into the cover. Taking it a step further, some people decided to combine album covers of different genres to form “new” album covers that come off as a bit strange and sometimes comical.
