10 Great Vintage Miller Lite Commercials

Published by under Entertainment,Movies

Miller Lite

Miller Lite commercials have been a staple on television for nearly 40 years now.  The evolution has been excellent but the campaign has always remained the same:  Less Filling vs. Taste Great.  It’s impressive that they’ve stuck with that slogan the entire time and yet find new ways to promote it.

In the 70′s and 80′s it was mostly athletes.  In the 90′s you started seeing more actors and real bar scenes.  Now?  Now it’s the man’s league that has taken over.  And I think John McGinley has done a nice job.

But here’s to all the classic Miller Lite Commercials.  Enjoy

Sci-Fi Channel Movies Are So Fake It’s Actually Kind of Funny

Published by under Movies

I’m not sure what producers decided that showing movies of crappy CGI prehistoric animals coupled with possibly the worst acting in the world would make Sci-Fi a better channel.

I’d like to share my opinion on this.  It’s hasn’t.  I mean how many abominable snowmen and megalodon shark movies can you guys show?

Yet somehow I find an hour has passed by before I turn these movies off.  I think I’m just anticipating the creature and am enraptured by how bad the performances are.  Eh, maybe it’s because they always have hot chicks.

Yes, a commercial for McDonald’s.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  The Japanese are amazing.

10 Memorable Oscar Awards Moments

Published by under Entertainment,Movies

Benigni

Over the years I have grown to like the Oscar awards less and less.  While some think it’s one of if not the greatest award shows that appreciates film, I happen to think it’s just another fancy shindig for the elite of society to celebrate being the elite of society.

However, that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a good acting, directing or even musical performance.  And I certainly agree that accolades are deserved for these performances.   Still though, I just don’t think it should be this grand spectacle that it is.  The pre-shows and the red carpet, blah blah.  Give it a rest.

Be that as it may, I still think there are some memorable moments that come with the Oscars.  Here are ten that are pretty neat.

*Bear in mind some of these clips are not embeddable so just click on them and you’ll be taken to them.

10 Real Shark Attack Videos That Rule

Published by under Movies,Oddly Enough

Great White

I would imagine that most of you have heard the story by now.  About a week ago a couple of diving enthusiasts off the coast of Mexico were observing shark activity from within one of those protective cages.  Well to make the long story short that cage wasn’t exactly as protective as they had hoped.

A 15 foot great white shark slammed head first into the cage shattering it and almost shattering the divers.  Amazingly enough, this whole incident was caught on video and posted to Youtube the next day.

Personally I think sharks are amazing.  I feel like you’re either deathly afraid of these things or infatuated.  I fall in the latter category.  And in honor of these eating machines I put together 10 awesome shark attack videos for your enjoyment (some of these are very graphic).

Six Degrees of Dazed and Confused? 10 Actor Coincidences in this Movie

Published by under Movies

Dazed

As I watched Dazed and Confused for the 500th time last night, I realized that it’s gotta be in my top ten rewatchability movies of all time.  I mean every single time this movie is on, I leave it on.  It’s gotta say something about this flick.

But as I watched the movie I realized that there’s some weird stuff going on.  There are a ridiculous amount of actor pairings that you seen in this movie, that show up in later movies.  I mean you gotta hand it to Dazed and Confused.

It sure seems to have spawned many budding Hollywood careers.  In fact it’s almost Kevon Bacon gamish.  While it’s not totally six degrees, check out some of this weird stuff from these 10 actor pairings from Dazed and Confused.

Uncoached Moment: Jack Palance Does One Armed Push Ups at the Oscars

Published by under Movies,Uncoached Moment

You have to admit, this was an amazing moment for Jack Palance and the Oscars in general.  Although I will say it opened the door for Cuba Gooding Jr to do a backflip and go absolutely ape sh*t on stage when he won his award.

So I’m not sure if this was a good moment or bad.  But Jack Palance, may he rest in peace certainly deserved this award for his portrayal as Curly in City Slickers.

The Good Old Days: 10 Great Clips from when Jim Carrey Used to be Funny

Published by under Movies

Carrey

Can someone please tell me what the hell happened to Jim Carrey?  And this new movie Yes Man that’s coming out?  Come on!  You’ve gotta be kidding me.  I’m pretty sure the last time I remember seeing Carrey be even remotely funny in a movie was Bruce Almighty, and I must say that’s really pushing it because in the grand scheme of things, he wasn’t funny at all.

I miss the days of In Living Color and Ace Ventura.  And it’s not just shows or movies.  He’s not nearly as off the wall or funny in interviews anymore.  Sure he wore a woman’s bathing suit on the beach one day, but come on.  It’s certainly not vintage Carrey.

So wherever the real Jim Carrey is,  I miss you buddy.  Please come back and do an Ace Ventura III.  And do it right.  These videos are a tribute to the old, real Jim Carrey.

15 of the Best Bullies in Movies

Published by under Entertainment,Movies

Movie Bullies

As you all know it’s December.  And what does December mean?  Sure it’s means Christmas.  But it also mean that the movie A Christmas Story will be on at least 500 times either on TNT or some other network.   Clearly this movie is one of your all time classics around the holidays.  But what particularly drew my attention this 368th time around, was Farkas.

Man was he a vicious little bully huh?  Those eyes, those braces.  He was perfect.  Although I do think the line “when I tell you to come, you better come” rubs me the wrong way.

In any event, it reminded how awesome the role of bully is in movies.  Which is why I came up with good list of 15.
