I think that people throw around the “LOL” tag a little too much.  I mean are you really laughing out loud when you write this or are you just smirking?  In order for a person (at least me) to laugh out loud it takes a hell of a lot to make it happen.

And movies are no exception.  You could be watching the funniest movie in the world at home alone and you won’t laugh out loud once.   Which is why the movie that does get a huge sounding laugh is a special one.

The one thing that I’ll grant directors like Todd Phillips and Judd Apatow is the fact that they’re starting to integrate nudity into their comedies.   If you all remember, funny comedies lost that stupid, dumb for no reason nudity thing all through the late 80s and pretty much all of the 90s.

Think quality movies like Bachelor Party or Fast Times at Ridgemont High.   Tons of nudity and really for no reason.  But that’s what made the 80s such a great time for the comedy flick.  And talk about worthless and dumb movies?  That was even better.

While I don’t think we’ll ever be back there at least it’s fun to reflect on some of the poorer qualities movies that you could always count on for a little offing of the clothes.

As I just finished completing this list I realize how somewhat sad it is.   I don’t think I could have been a bigger Jim Carrey fan in the mid 90s if I tried and yet when you really get down to it, he doesn’t have that many truly funny movies to his name.   I think it was just his presence and appearances on talk shows that really made him what he was back then.

And when you look at his work on In Living Color then it really shows how he was by far the funniest white guy around at the time.  But again, it’s odd how his movie body of work isn’t that impressive when it comes to comedy.

However, the movies that were funny?  It’s pretty damned hard to match them.  Here are what I consider to be Jim Carrey’s funniest movies…..

I’ve always been fascinated how actors and actresses transform their bodies for movie roles.  Whether it’s losing weight or getting extremely fit it’s obviously that these people work pretty hard to get themselves looking just right.

However, I think in some cases it’s a little more than just diet and exercise.  I mean in some cases you kind of have to think there’s a little “extra” involved.

While I don’t have definitive proof here, these are six examples of when I think steroids were obviously a part of these role preparations….

It’s hard to imagine just what the people who made this film were thinking when they made this scene, which features a Motorcycle driving through a wall, a bulletproof snake and a bazooka, all coming together for an amaglam of awfulness.

I’m still trying to piece together exactly what happened here. Did the snake deflect the initial two bullets with its fangs? Is it really just the size of a decently big rattlesnake? Is the explosion from the bazooka really that small? So many questions!

Just watch it for yourself, it’s insane.

I’m definitely sold.

Most movies make fighting scenes with the intention of being pretty badass.  I mean unless you have a complete parody fight scene it’s safe to assume that filmmakers are trying pretty hard to create the illusion of a major fight.

For whatever reason be it the director is on crack, drunk, or hallucinogenics they completely miss the mark.  And those “badass” scenes become unintentionally funny.

If you’re sitting at your desk right now, get up and go dance in the bathroom.  Make a change.  Do something different.  You’ll feel better I promise.

Many of you may know this but some may not.  Most movies are usually between 5-8 hours before they are edited.  Directors usually shoot a ton of film before making a movie into its final product.

It’s the job of the editor to take out all the crappy and worthless scenes that simply don’t need to be there.  Then, craftily placing one scene after another will eventually lead to what you see on the big screen in the theater.

But it appears that some folks think that even less film is required.  In fact, these guys think that only 5 seconds are necessary for some movies.

As I watched Teen Wolf for the 30th time last night I couldn’t help yet again realize how amazing coach Finstock was.   I don’t know what’s up with Jay Tarses these days but man do we need more characters like him.  Guy was last on television in 1993.

In any event, if there are three things for you to live by, here they are.

1.  Never get less than 12 hours sleep

2.  Never play poker with a guy whose first name is a city

3.  Never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body
