Does anyone remember how amazing this song was when it came out? P.S. People who hadn’t actually seen Rick Astley definitely thought he was black because of his voice (certainly not because of his clothes).
By the way, this video couldn’t be any better. Astley’s long coat and little shimmy moves. Then you have that random bartender guy who flips on the concrete wall.
Oddly enough every Youtube video of this song has disabled embedding so I decided to show you the most appropriate use of this song in a movie. I think Zoolander captured it best.
Is it even possible to not bop along to this tune? I mean it’s just so fun. It’s incredible how amazingly fruity Wham was, but at the same time you just have to love the white pants and shirts that say “Choose Life” in the real video.
Because you know what? They were choosing life back then. A life of feathered hair, cute sidekicks (Andrew Ridgeley), and very short shorts. Wake me up honey. Wake us all up.
I got the subtitle version because some of this crap is hard to understand
You can’t tell me, not even for a second, that if this song is bumping on your IPod (which it was on mine the other day) that you’re silently not singing along when Mel B utters “really really really wanna zig a zig ahhhh.”
I don’t care what people say, this song rocks. It’s catchy, fun, and at the time was sung by four ladies that were all doable. Remember, this is when Posh Spice wasn’t an alien yet. In fact she was pretty hot.
I refuse to believe that guys don’t secretly dig this song every time it comes back on the air. I know I love it. You should too!
