3. Bobby Valentine, Boston Red Sox

While some in Boston may argue that the Red Sox hiring Bobby Valentine was the worst decision not only in the franchise’s history, but in the long annals of major league baseball, Valentine probably isn’t the worst hire ever. That’s not to say he didn’t have a miserable 162 games in Beantown during the 2012 season though, as he managed a team that ended up winning the World Series a year later to a 69-93 record and last place finish in the A.L. East.
