15 of the Weirdest Jobs We’ve Ever Heard Of

Etta James Funeral

Professional Mourner

I still can’t believe this is a real job. People actually get paid to show up on others’ funerals and mourn. Wear black, cry loudly, and stand there respectfully – the whole nine yards. By having these mourners there, it’s apparently supposed to create a more solemn, somber atmosphere. This is most popular and most frequent in Africa, China, and the Middle East. However, the United Kingdom is supposedly getting in on this weird job as well, with some called Rent-A-Mourner. I’m sure it’s as distasteful and tacky as it sounds.
