This Italian Pro League Soccer Goal is Absolutely Absurd

China Grooms Young Soccer Players For 2008 Olympics

Just because the World Cup is over doesn’t mean that there are no more crazy soccer goals to watch. In fact, check out this video of a goal from the Italian Pro League that is absolutely absurd.

As you can see in the video at the bottom of the article, the soccer player goes in for a slide tackle on the opposing player but he doesn’t just knock the ball away from the opposition. No, he actually boots the ball so hard and so far that it, somehow, ends up traveling directly over the goalie’s head (who is left just standing there, completely puzzled, and unsure of what to do) and lading right in the other’s team net, making for the greatest soccer goal that I’ve probably ever seen. I mean, seriously, I know the Beckham and other guys have made so pretty ridiculous shots over the years, but I don’t see how anything compares to a soccer goal like that. I still don’t know how you make that – it’s almost unreal.

And this video just proves to me again why soccer is such a fun sport to watch, even it’s still not huge here in the United Sates. Sure, you get some mammoth-sized homers in baseball or 360 dunks in basketball or even some pretty impressive trick shots in hockey. But what sport, other then soccer, produces so many of these jaw-dropping, eye rubbing, “can’t believe it’s real” type plays? I really don’t think there’s any comparison – soccer is the sports equivalent to the most shocking TV show or movie you’ll ever watch.
