The Ten Biggest Cycling Races in the World

National Cyclo-Cross Championships In Derby

Tour of the Basque Country

Here we have yet another cycling race in Spain (people really love to ride their bikes there, apparently). The Tour of the Basque County is is held every year in Basque County, Spain (because, of course) in April. The race was first held back in 1924 but did not take place from 1935 to 1969, as similar races were organized and took its place instead. The race does really offer any flat stages, since the area is mainly mountainous, and thus makes good climbers the best picks to win the Tour. Also, fun fact (at least it’s fun for me, since I was an English major): the race was apparently mentioned in Ernest Hemingway’s novel, The Sun Also Rises.
