Tour Down Under

Outside of the Grand Tours, there are numerous other cycling races, and many consider the Tour Down Under to be one of the biggest. The event takes place around Adelaide in South Australia, and it first began in 1999. In 2005, UCI gave the Tour Down Under the honor of being the highest ranking cycling race outside of Europe.  The race typically takes place during late January in Australia, which can be incredibly hot, with temperatures nearing 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
