Vuelta a España

After the success of Giro d’ Italia and the Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana was first started back in 1935. The race runs primarily through Spain (although that’s pretty obvious from the title of it), and the winner of the event is the cyclist with the lowest combined time from each stage of the event – he is the one who gets to don the red jersey. Last year, the first American ever won the race. His name is Chris Horner, and he’s also the oldest winner of the Vuelta a Espana or any of the Grand Tours at the age of 41.
