Giro d’Italia

Giro d’ Italia is a stage race that primarily takes place through Italy (although it does pass through some other nearby countries as well). It began back in 1909 to increase the sales of an Italian newspaper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, but it is now run by RCS Sport. Giro is one of the three major cycling races, along with the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana, that combine to create the three-week-long Grand Tours, and it usually takes place in late May or early June of every year.
