The Ten Biggest Cycling Races in the World

Spectators Cheer On Bradley Wiggins As He Competes In The Olympic Time Trial

Critérium du Dauphiné

And just like with Spain, we have our third cycling race in France. The Criterium du Dauphine takes place every year during the first half of June, and it is viewed as a good “leading up,” preparation race for the Tour de France in July. The Criterium began in 1947, and the race is eight stages, taking place throughout the Dauphine region of France. Due to the mountainous terrain of the area, most of this race’s winners are usually climbing specialist cyclists.
