Potato Salad Kickstarter Raises over $8,500 In Just Days

Potato Salad Kickstarter

And the ridiculous news keeps pouring in, although this is much more of the awesome variety. A crowfunded Kickstarter campaign to make the best potato salad possible has raised more than 800 times its original goal, totaling at over $8,500 at the present moment. There are still 24 days left for people to donate to the campaign, as well. It’s one of the most successful projects in Kicktarter history.

The Potato Salad campaign was started by Zack Danger Brown of Columbus, Ohio, on Kickstarter this past Friday on the Fourth of July, and it almost immediately surpassed its original funding goal of $10. The fact that over $8,500 has been donated also means that the project has broken all of its named stretch goals, thus Brown will now use the best mayonnaise possible, follow a chef’s recipe, and livestream the entire creation of the potato

While the Potato Salad project has not raised nearly enough money to be considered one of the most funded projects ever on Kickstarter, it has been shown greater support than many other projects on the website, especially when compared to its original funding goal.

I don’t know if I personally would donate my money to a Kickstarter campaign having to do with potato salad (it’s never been up there as one of my favorite foods. In fact, I don’t really much like it all). However, I still think it’s pretty great that so many people have used the internet to get together and raise money for something so odd and absurd. My only question: barbecue side dish will be the next Kickstarter sensation?
