Water is an eater’s most important training tool
Even though many who are not scientifically-inclined, such as myself, would believe that the best way for competitors to train would be to just eat a large amount of different types of food in preparation (thus ensuring that your stomach is adjusted to take all that stress and storage), the most important training tool for competitive eaters is water. Drinking water – by the gallons – increases competitors’ stomach capacities. Some competitive eaters, such as Yasir Salem (who has competed in everything from hot dog competitions to cannoli eating contests), can amazingly finish drinking a gallon in less than a minute.
