Women don’t just compete – they win

Almost 25% of the IFOCE is made up of women, and these women do quite well in the competitive eating competitions. Although a woman has never taken the top prize in the infamous Coney Island Contest, the best possible candidate to do so, Sonya Thomas (also known as the “Black Widow”), has already beaten the world’s top ranked eater, Takeru Kobayashi, in a fruitcake eating contest. Plus, she holds numerous world records for eating such foods as lobsters and chicken nuggets.
