Competitors will still eat beforehand on the day of a big competition 

Now, when I say that competitors still eat before competitions on the day of, I’m not saying that they eat an enormous amount of solid foot, like the guy in the picture above with those disgusting looking hot dogs (no offense, Dairy Queen). Instead, it’s a mix of fruits, vegetables, and water. Most competitive eaters will consume these types of food through shakes and smoothies, and they will also typically drink a gallon or two of water during a competition day that they will then urinate out to help clear out space in their intestines. And there’s also the caffeine – a strong cup or two of coffee is a must for a large portion of participants.
