Trakr Saves 9/11 Survivor

This is probably my favorite animal rescue story on this list. Trakr, a German shepherd that is a trained police dog, worked with Canadian police officer James Symington as a part of the search-and-rescue team that looked for survivors after the attacks on September 11th. During their search, Trakr picked up the scent of a human, which prompted rescuers to dig 30 feet under the unstable debris. There they found a 32-year-old woman, the last survivor recovered from the World Trade Center site, and while it was humans who dug the woman out, it was Trakr who initially found her and truly saved her life.
