Marilyn Monroe 40th Anniversary

Marilyn Monroe

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in 1926 to Gladys Pearl Baker and Martin Edward Mortenson, Marilyn Monroe was sent to live in the foster home of Albert and Ida Bolender in Hawthorne, California until she was seven years old. After those first seven years, Monroe’s mother came back for and essentially kidnapped her from the Bolenders. However, Monroe’s mother, Gladys, suffered numerous mental breakdowns and Monroe became a ward of the state, forcing her to bounce from foster home to foster home for the majority of her childhood.
