8. Flags of Our Fathers
Flags of Our Fathers was the first of Clint Eastwood’s two films, which came out in 2006, that focused on the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II. In this first outing, Eastwood adapts the nonfiction book of the same name and tells the story of a group of survivors from that battle and the guilt that they must deal with. Flags of Our Fathers is, in my opinion, one of Eastwood’s greatest films – an emotionally gripping story and a satisfying tribute to those who fought for the United States during not only just this specific battle but throughout all of WWII.
