“No Sleep Till Brooklyn” – Beastie Boys

Unlike “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party),”  “No Sleep Till Brookyln” doesn’t appear to be a scathing parody of fellow artists and musicians in the industry but more of just a rock song that that gets one pumped up. What I found most interesting about the song while reading up on it, however, is that the Beastie Boys changed some of the original lyrics in order to show that they had a more mature, less callous view towards women. That’s why the lyrics “M.C.A.’s in the back because he’s skeezin’ with a whore” and “Autographed pictures and classy hos” were changed to “M.C.A.’s in the back with the mahjong board” and “Autographed pictures to nobody knows.”
