Girl Cosplaying at Denver Comic Con Looks Just Like Arya Stark from Game of Thrones

Arya 2

I’m a die hard Game of Thrones fan. I own all the seasons on Blu Ray, have posters of my favorite characters plastered on my walls, and have even tried the Game of Thrones beers that they’ve come out with. However, I’ve never Game of Thrones cosplayed and after looking at this girl from Denver Comic Con last week who looks almost exactly like Arya Stark, I’m not sure if I’d want to. It’d be too intimidating after seeing someone do this good of a job of it.

There’s a full photo of this girl at the bottom of the article, but what I’m most impressed with, even more so than her expertly designed costume, is how well this girl nails the Arya Stark face, that look of strength, despair, and defiance that actress Maisie Williams perfects in every single episode. Even though this girl doesn’t look very much like Williams (the cosplayer’s face is a lot harder than Williams’ and she appears to be a couple years older than the newly turned 17-year-old actress), she still emits that undeniable Arya quality.

And can I just take a moment to say how awesome it is that we live in a day and age that not only accepts people who want to dress like their favorite comic, film, or television characters but actually encourages it. People have been saying it for a while now, but it really is the “Age of the Nerd,” a time where it’s cool to know all about Dungeons and Dragons, where movies like Guardians of the Galaxy are being made, and  shows like Arrow, Agents of SHIELD, and the soon-to-be The Flash TV series are highly watched or anticipated.

So whether you want to dress like Arya Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, or even our dearly deceased Oberyn Martell (although it would take a lot of makeup to perfect that grape tomato-squashed head look), go do it. There’s no better time to show off how much you love your favorite characters than right now.
