Ten Hits with Song Meanings You Never Expected

Billy Idoll

“White Wedding” – Billy Idol

Just cause the song is called “White Wedding” does not mean it’s describing any sort of dream-like ceremony. The dark, almost haunting tone of the song should tip most people off to that. And if you listen closely and watch the video, the most likely conclusion is that “White Wedding”  focuses on a man as he watches the woman he loves being forced into a marriage. The word “shotgun!” is uttered three times in the song, also indicating that this may be a shotgun wedding – which would literally make the opposite of happy, idealized “white wedding.”
