Full Lunar Eclipse Coincides With Winter Solstice

2008 – Fayetville, North Carolina

On the night of Feb. 20, 2008, at about 10:40 p.m., a 47-year-old former U.S. Army helicopter pilot, who was outside his house in Fayetteville, N.C., attempted to watch the lunar eclipse from his front porch. However, he apparently got much more than he bargained for.  The man filed a report with the National UFO Reporting Center, and in it, he says a bright, round object that “clearly was not a naturally formed object,” suddenly appeared and traveled in a straight line from the left side to the back side of the moon before making a 90-degree turn, thus going right in front of the face of the fully eclipsed moon. The UFO then quickly disappeared to the moon’s right side. The entire incident reportedly lasted only about five seconds. The former pilot, whose name has been redacted from the report for privacy reasons,  has 20/12 and 20/15 vision in his eyes and stated, “This object made intelligent turns and in relation to the position of the moon, was travelling at a fantastic rate of speed.”
