After an extremely short All-Star weekend break, the NBA’s second half tipped-off last night with some serious storylines in play as the playoffs begin to start in a few short months.
As great as the first half of the season has been, what can we expect to see as teams continue to try and jockey for playoff (and ping ball) position?
We’re here to tell you exactly what you should expect—or, at least, what we think will happen—with these bold predictions for the NBA’s second half.
5. The OKC Thunder Take a Step Back
Typically, when a player like Russell Westbrook joins a team, it’s a very good thing. But with the streak that Kevin Durant has been on since his point guard has gone down, it might backfire a bit.
Don’t get us wrong, Westbrook is one of the most dynamic and athletic players in the league. But he’s throwing a bit of a wrench in the season that Durant is having—and it will show in the team’s play.
Of all of our predictions, we sort of hope this one turns out being wrong, because we’d really like to see the Thunder get back to the Finals with a real shot of winning the whole thing.
It’s just tough to see happening unless one of the two young stars in OKC sacrifices some of their game—which isn’t always a positive.
