After back-to-back solid playoff appearances—including a trip to the Western Conference Finals last season—what has happened to the Grizzlies?
One could simply point to the loss of defending “Defensive Player of the Year” Marc Gasol, but it’s hard to imagine the Spaniard makes that type of an impact.
Alas, the team has played much better recently now that they’ve got their rock in the middle back, and Mike Conley Jr. and Zach Randolph continue to produce at All-Star-type levels, so it’s not completely insane to think they can make a push in the second half—but it’s going to take some adjustments both on the court and in the front office to do it.
