With the NBA reaching its halfway point, it’s time to look back and see what teams have and haven’t reached their full potential.
As we’ve seen thus far, Western Conference teams have proven to be superior, yet the last two NBA titles have come from the East. Well these are the teams that shouldn’t even think about a championship this year, because, while they had high expectations when the season tipped, they’ve flopped worse than LeBron James.
5. Cleveland Cavs
As a Cleveland sports fan, this one is both difficult to write about and entirely frustrating to watch.
After an offseason which saw them land the top pick in the draft—using it on potential bust Anthony Bennett—rehire an old face in head coach Mike Brown and then take a chance on former All-Star center Andrew Bynum—since released and signed by Indiana—nothing has appeared to work out for them.
Add in the lack of chemistry between a number of their young stars, and this team is about as dysfunctional as they come.
Sure, the Luol Deng seems like it would help, but even since trading for the two-time All-Star, the Cavs haven’t seemed to figure things out.
