Although we admit that most of the things that NFL does these days is for money—umm, this year’s frozen Super Bowl will be in the largest media market for a reason. But the Pro Bowl has become such a mess that even former players and legendary coaches are calling for its demise.
Every sports fan knows that all-star games are just a glorified exhibition, bringing together the most popular million-dollar athletes to put on a spectacle that fans can enjoy.
After all, sports is just supposed to be entertainment.
The Pro Bowl is the worst, though, and we’re giving you the reasons why.
5. It’s a Popularity Contest
OK, so the NFL isn’t the only one who has this problem—as every league has its biggest stars somehow end up on the roster. That doesn’t mean that it’s not something that needs to be fixed, though.
Rather than let fans just stuff the ballot box and decide which guys they want to see in the game—though they often bail on the invite anyway—leave it up to the just the players and let them decide who not only should, but also want to, be there.
