The NFL Trade Deadline is tomorrow, meaning that all those major trades that would happen in other sports like baseball and basketball would actually be at least talked about between teams.
Unfortunately, the NFL rarely makes big-name, franchise-changing trades with each other.
Whether because of contracts, trying to find the right numbers within the salary cap or just because teams rarely like to take chances on guys who could get hurt in their first game with just one hit—setting a franchise back for years if given up a high-round pick—football fans are rarely shocked to see nothing happen on trade day.
That doesn’t mean we can’t fantasize though, which is what we’re doing today by giving you these six trades we’d love to see happen—but none of us should hold our breath for.
6. Maurice Jones-Drew to Patriots
Jones-Drew might not be what he once was—especially since given his injury history the past few seasons—but in a New England offense that wouldn’t need him to be the All-Pro player he once was, that’s why he’d be such a good fit in Foxboro.
Imagine the headache opposing defenses would have trying to matchup with MJD coming out of the backfield on third and short situations.
Tom Brady would be gleaming if this were to ever happen, giving him another weapon to work into their attack.
