No we don’t want to harp on the pitfalls of college kids, but after being six weeks into the college football season, we just couldn’t help ourselves.
Just as some surprise teams emerged as title contenders early in the season—which, so far, have been the ones we all thought would based on preseason rankings—there have been a few teams who may not completely embarrass themselves each time they take the field, but definitely aren’t living up to expectations as they came into the season.
So for any of you who cheer for these teams, we apologize that you’re having to mutter the words, “Wait till next year…”
6. Michigan State
Not that the Spartans were ever seriously going to challenge for a national title, but heading into the season, MSU was at least thought about as a team that could compete in the Big 10 for a conference championship and potential double-digit win season.
Inconsistency has killed them though, as they haven’t been able to find the right guy at the most critical of positions to lead them consistently.
Until that happens, they’ll just be a middle of the road team.
