The entire World Series between the Yankees and Diamondbacks was a nail-biter, as it came down to Luis Gonzalez getting a clutch hit in Game 7 against the aforementioned Mariano Rivera to win the whole thing.
But don’t forget that the first pitch thrown out by then President, George W. Bush, was one that everyone was anticipating following the terrorist attacks just a month earlier.
Naturally, the toss was a perfect strike down the middle of the plate, showing every American that we wouldn’t be scared of anyone trying to pose a threat to our country.
