After stumbling across an article the other day that mentioned the NBA seriously considering players where jersey’s with approved nicknames on back of them for a game or two, it not only screamed money scam, but also got us thinking about some of the funnier nicknames in sports.
While guys like LeBron James would don “King James” on back and Derron Williams could put “D-Will” on his, here are some players who might rather stick to the traditional last name instead.
6. Josh Harrellson (Pistons) – “Jorts”
While former Kentucky Wildcats center Josh Harrellson may have become a sensation thanks to his blue-collar playing style and laid back personality in college, his nickname “Jorts” isn’t necessarily something he should be flattered to have.
Earning the moniker after he showed up on his official visit in Lexington wearing jean shorts, anyone who actually wears denim cut-offs would rather keep that to themselves, rather than blast it on back of a NBA jersey.
