The college football season may just be approaching its second week and the top teams are still debatable at this point, but with a small sampling size to choose from, we’re throwing out our guesses for who might be a darkhorse national title contender.
We all know about the Alabama’s and Ohio State’s of the nation, but here are six other teams that could somehow sneak into the championship game should everything go right for them.
Go ahead and laugh if you feel it necessary, but this year’s Wildcats team might just be the best that eight-year coach Pat Fitzgerald has had during his time in Evanston.
Coming off of a 10-3 season last year, the team opened up with a 44-30 win against Cal, showing they have some firepower on the offensive side of the ball.
With cupcake opponents their first four games leading up to Ohio State at home on October 5, the purple people should be undefeated with a chance to make a major statement in the soft Big Ten.
