Like most baseball seasons, the 2013 one has been full of twists and turns, proving that more than any sport, it might be the one with the most parity.
We mean, really, did you have the Pirates with one of the best record in the Majors in mid-August? Chances are slim.
But as much as we love the surprise teams and breakout stars, there are naturally ones that definitely underachieved, leaving their fans to fill message boards with hate and counting down the days till the Hot Stove days are here.
6. Cincinnati Reds
OK, so unlike some of the other teams you’ll see on this list, the Reds aren’t completely out of the postseason picture, currently sitting five games ahead of the next team for the final Wild Card spot. But this team wasn’t built to just sneak into the playoffs, it was designed to win the NL Central and compete for a World Series title.
With a former MVP (Joey Votto) and a seasoned manager (Dusty Baker), who knows if they can get hot and make a run if they get to the extra season, but chances are this isn’t how they thought it’d be when heading to spring training.
