This Video of the DeLorean Hovercraft Is Awesome

All right, Back To The Future fans, we know what you’re thinking: It’s almost 2015, so where are all the freaking hoverboards at? The real ones, not these impostors. Alas, no dice. But, great Scott, is this DeLorean hovercraft sweet! According to HuffPost Live, the hovercraft was built by Matthew Riese in 2010 and can hover on any flat surface. A Kickstarter project from that year appears to outline his plans. Looks like Riese built it for about $5,500. While the vehicle didn’t achieve 88 mph, it did manage to turn a few heads as it caught some waves near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

The DeLorean Hovercraft is awesome, but it’s also a perplexing paradox. I mean I would never EVER buy one of these guys, but if I was walking out of the grocery store and someone rolled up in one I’d think that person was the coolest person on the planet. Perplexing isn’t it.
