Three Major Benefits of Having a Child other than Actually Having a Child
Getting out of just about anything you want
Easily the biggest ancillary benefit to having a child is getting out of stuff. I’m Jewish and this is the first year of my life I didn’t have to go to temple on either Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. If I were religious I would feel bad about this. But since I am not, I was pretty pumped to not have to go. Granted this was because my boy is too little and it would have been a mess and I’ll have to go next year, but still, I got a free pass this year. You get to leave dinners early because the baby is crying. There are endless situations you can get out of that you normally couldn’t because of having a baby.
